The retired inspector general of police, who is in the US, has informed the Investigating Officer (IO) that multiple health problems have forced him to postpone his return to India.

He assured that he will fully cooperate in the investigation and will personally respond to all queries as soon as his health improves and upon his return to India.

"I am prepared to assist the investigation in any form of interrogation through video or teleconference until such time as I return to India," he said in the letter dated June 23 that appeared on Thursday.

The retired IPS officer asked the IO to conduct a fair and impartial investigation as per law.

Prabhakar Rao denied the allegations leveled against him.

“I would like to reiterate once again what I conveyed to you through the WhatsApp call on March 22 and 23, that I have not committed nor have I ordered anyone to commit any illegal act or omission in the performance of my duties as a security officer. police at any time, including as Head of SIB,” the letter reads.

The former SIB chief wrote that he had originally planned to return to India on June 26, but had to postpone it due to health concerns.

He informed IO that in addition to the existing problem of malignant cancer, he developed high blood pressure due to stress, "I have been subjected, after the registration of the current case and with wild and false accusations against me, with constant deliberate leaks to media communication, thus assassinating my character and reputation even before I became a defendant in the case.

He claimed that the false accusations came as a huge shock to him and his family, leading to a further deterioration of his physical and mental health.

Prabhakar Rao said that he was now suffering from heart and kidney problems for which he was seeking appointments with specialists in the United States.

He further wrote that his doctors advised her not to travel outside the United States until his health was completely stabilized.

“However, I am willing to cooperate fully with the investigation and provide any information I believe is in my exclusive knowledge and possession via email. “I do not believe that my non-appearance before the IO at an earlier time hampers the investigation in any way, as is already clear from the outcome of the investigation and the filing of the charge sheet,” he added.

So far, three serving police officers and one former officer have been arrested in the wiretapping case that came to light after the BRS lost power to Congress and a SIB official who was part of the operation. was found destroying the collected data.

A case was registered with Panjagutta police in March after SP and SIB filed an additional petition.

DSP Praneeth Rao was arrested after he allegedly destroyed hard drives and other data.

Police later arrested former additional SPs Bhujanga Rao and Tirupathanna and former deputy commissioner of police P Radha Kishan Rao.
