Amritsar (Punjab) [India], Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, former Shiroman Akali Dal (SAD) leader Pawan Kumar Tinu joined the Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday. Former two-time MLA Pawan Kumar Tinu, who represented Adampu constituency of Punjab, left Shiromani Akali Dal. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann welcomed Tinu into the party. Tinu was elected MLA from Adampur assembly constituency of Jalandha district in 2012 and 2017. He lost the 2022 assembly elections to Congress candidate Sukhwinder Kotli.

There are 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, of which four are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress-led UP alliance secured 8 seats, while the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) managed to secure four seats. AAP, contesting elections for the first time in the state, won one seat. Lok Sabha elections for 13 parliamentary seats of Punjab will be held on June 1.
