The project aims to alleviate the severe drinking water problem in the drought-hit areas of Chikkaballapur, Kolar and Hassan, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Ramanagara and Bangalore Rural districts of the state.

Deputy CM Shivakumar, who is also the Irrigation Minister, Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Forest Minister Ishwar Khandre, Karnataka's special representative in New Delhi T.B. Was talking to journalists after meeting with. Jayachandra and officials from various departments were involved.

“We have discussed expediting the Yetinahole and Upper Bhadra projects with Forest Minister Khandre, Jayachandra and officials of the concerned departments. The Forest Department is providing 500 acres of land required for the Yetinahole project. In return, the Revenue Department will hand over 500 acres of land to the Forest Department. The process will be completed within the legal framework,” the Deputy CM said.

Officials identified bottlenecks for these projects and discussed solutions during the meeting. "There were forest department-related issues at 20 locations spread over 250 kilometres. Clearance was required from forest officials, and hence a meeting was held with the concerned ministers," he said.

Revenue, Irrigation and Forest departments are conducting joint surveys and a request has been made to expedite the work. Deputy CM Shivkumar said that dues of Rs 41 crore are to be paid to the farmers.
