New Delhi, Former player Langam Chaoba Devi is set to take over as the national women's football coach as the IM Vijayan-led AIFF technical committee on Wednesday recommended her name for the post.

Devi, 51, who captained the national team at the 1999 Asian Championships in the Philippines, has previously served as the assistant coach of the Indian team. Manipuri has also represented the country in the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games.

"After extensive deliberations, the committee recommends Ms. Langam Chaoba Dev as the head coach of the Indian senior women's national team," the All India Football Federation (AIFF) said in a statement.

Devi is the only woman coach from the North-East region to hold the AFC 'A License coaching badge.

This recommendation is as good as an appointment, given that the AIFF Executive Committee will approve it in its next meeting.

The technical committee meeting was held virtually under the chairmanship of Vijayan and was attended by Pinky Bompal Magar, Shabbir Ali, Victor Amalraj, Santosh Singh, Climax Lawrence.

AIFF Technical Director Syed Sabir Pasha was also present.

The committee also recommended Priya PV and Ronibala Chanu as assistant goalkeeping coaches for the team respectively.

All three coaches recommended by the technical committee had done tea duty during the Turkish Women's Cup in Alanya, Turkey in February this year.

The committee also discussed the appointment of coaches for the men's Under-1 and Under-19 teams. After considering the applications received, the committee recommended the following names:

U16 men's national team:

Head Coach: Ishfaq Ahmed, Assistant Coach: Yan Cheng Law, Goalkeeping Coach Mohammad Zakir Hussain

U19 men's national team:

Head Coach: Ranjan Chaudhary, Goalkeeping Coach: Sandeep Nandi.
