New Delhi, Delhi Food and Civil Supplies Minister Imran Hussain on Friday reviewed the distribution of free ration under the National Food Security Act and One Nation One Ration Card schemes.

According to a statement, he also sought detailed information about ration distribution through the Ration Card Portability Scheme in the national capital.

The Minister directed the officials of the department to prepare for the application process of new ration cards so that more beneficiaries can avail the benefits of the National Food Security Act.

Hussain directed to cancel those ration cards which are lying inactive or whose beneficiaries have left Delhi. New cards will be added following the first in-first out mode while processing new applications.

The maximum limit for Delhi under the National Food Security Act is around 72 lakh beneficiaries, the statement said.

Department officials told Hussain that the distribution of ration for July under the National Food Security Act had started from Monday.

It said that about 51 per cent of the quota has already been distributed to the beneficiaries.

Beneficiaries are also using the portability scheme which allows the cardholder to get ration from any shop in Delhi. It said that ration is being distributed through e-POS devices and technical problems are also being resolved promptly.

The statement said that under the Public Distribution System under the National Food Security Act in Delhi, three kilograms of wheat and two kilograms of rice are provided every month to the beneficiaries as part of their regular entitlements.

It said the regular entitlement under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana category is 20 kg wheat, 15 kg rice and one kg sugar per family.
