The opposition leader also submitted a communiqué to the Finance Minister in which he pointed out how the alleged diversion and misuse of welfare funds is being used to delay the upcoming financial meltdown in the state.

West Bengal is heading towards widespread financial recession after derailing industrialization with 'dole politics' and 'vote bank politics', he said. The state is in an unemployment epidemic. The fear now is that development and welfare funds meant for the people may be unethically diverted, delayed, mismanaged and misused to prevent the upcoming financial meltdown in the state,” read the letter from the LOP.

In such a situation, the official said in the letter, there is a need to maintain strict monitoring and scrutiny in public interest so that the state government can be prevented from "misusing" or "wasting" the funds.

The officer also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and briefed him about the post-poll law and order situation in West Bengal.

“He inquired about the victims of post-poll violence and extended full support regarding ending it. I handed him a USB drive containing details of the public thrashing of Chopra, the stripping of a woman worker of the BJP Minority Morcha in Cooch Behar, the Bankra gang war between two factions of the Trinamool Congress and the killing of a Trinamool Congress panchayat member in Murshidabad. Video footage is included. Crude bombs and Ariyadaha are circulating with the incident,” the officer said.
