Flood water has entered many villages of West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Muzaffarpur, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Khagaria, Purnia, Kishanganj and other districts of North Bihar and Seemanchal region.

Residents of low-lying areas are taking shelter on the roads or migrating to higher places.

According to the Central Water Commission, rivers like Gandak, Bagmati, Kamla Balan, Kosi and Mahananda are flowing above the danger mark at many places.

According to the commission, Gandak river is flowing 107 cm above the danger mark at Dumariya Ghat in Gopalganj.

The water level of Gandak river is above the danger mark at Rewa Ghat in Muzaffarpur. Bagmati river was 44 cm above the danger mark at Beniabad in Muzaffarpur district.

Kamla Balan river is flowing 105 cm above the danger mark in Jhanjharpur of Madhubani district.

Kosi river is 80 cm above the danger mark at Baltara in Khagaria.

Mahananda river is 100 cm above the danger mark at Dhengra Ghat in Purnia district. In Katihar's Jhawa, it is 9 cm above the danger mark.

Parman river in Araria is 70 cm above the danger mark.

There are signs of further rising water level in many rivers.

The Meteorological Department (MeT) has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall in the catchment areas of Kosi, Mahananda, Bagmati, Adhwara and Gandak rivers.
