Lucknow: Over 600 villages in 12 districts of Uttar Pradesh are affected by floods while 19 people died in rain-related incidents across the state in the last 24 hours, UP relief department officials said on Wednesday.

From 6:30 pm on Tuesday to 6:30 pm on Wednesday, 16 people died and two people drowned due to lightning. He told that one person died due to snake bite.

Officials said that an average of 30 mm rainfall was recorded in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours.

According to the department, the rains have caused the water level in many rivers to rise, resulting in flooding in 633 villages in 12 districts.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited some flood affected areas of Lakhimpur Kheri and Pilibhit districts. He took stock of the relief material being provided in these areas.

The State Relief Commissioner said, "NDRF and SDRF teams are coordinating with the local administration to mitigate flood-related problems in the affected areas. We have set up 712 flood relief camps for people and 226 animal shelters for their animals in the affected areas. Have set up shelters." Naveen Kumar said.

The official said that along with food, other basic facilities are also being provided to the people living in these camps.
