According to preliminary reports, the fire broke out at around 6:45 am local time in the Jatiasih area, where the victims were indoors, Xinhua news agency reported.

At least 12 fire engines were deployed to control the blaze, the head of Bekasi's fire and rescue agency Eseng Solehudin said, adding that lack of electricity was probably the main cause of the fire.

According to him, the fire has also caused damage up to 1 billion Indonesian rupiah (about 61,000 US dollars).

Meanwhile, Jatiasih police chief Suroto said all the victims were trapped in the bathroom of the warehouse when the fire broke out.

He said the victims wanted to get out of the building, but the fire continued to spread rapidly and their exit route was blocked. He said that the investigation of the case is still going on.
