Bengaluru, Despite sporadic rains over most parts of Karnataka, 14 sections are facing scorching heat today.

The maximum temperature in most of the districts will be between 38 to 44 degrees Celsius.

Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Meena said that they have taken note of the reports of above normal temperatures in the North Karnataka region and have made all necessary arrangements to ensure that people do not shy away from coming out of their homes to vote. .

"Fans and drinking water in waiting areas as well as ambulances on standby are some of the arrangements made keeping in mind the harsh weather," he said.

Maximum temperature forecast for 14 constituencies: Chikkodi (3 degrees Celsius), Belgaum (38), Bagalkot (43), Bijapur.

However, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for most of the 14 districts of Karnataka state

The Disaster Monitoring Center (KSNDMC) has issued a red alert for five Bagalkots, Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri and Koppal till May 9.
