The app will enable buyers to use a WhatsApp-based conversational UI to search, browse and buy products from sellers in the ONDC network, without the need to download any other mobile app.

Beerud Sheth, CEO, Gapsup, said in a statement, “Gassop's Buyer App on ONDC brings the vast commerce network to users across the country, in a way that can be used quickly and easily in any language. It is truly the first in India. “Will transform digital commerce at population scale.”

The company said that the Buyer app is currently in beta and will initially have limited availability, allowing users to order food and beverages like biryani on WhatsApp.

Customers will be able to share their location on chat, browse vendors near them, order food and make payments directly from WhatsApp.

“This ONDC Buyer App is a perfect demonstration of the significant impact of conversational experiences and the unique ability of Gapsup’s platform to enable them,” said Gaurav Kachhawa, Chief Product Officer, Gapsup.

Additionally, the company said that support for additional conversation channels such as "Google RCS and Voice" is also coming soon.
