This is the second case of mpox in the country.

George said that elaborate arrangements have been made with 14 government hospitals in the state which are fully prepared to deal with any emergency.

“In case people, especially those coming from abroad, have any symptoms and need to seek medical help, all arrangements for isolation have been prepared in hospitals across the state. Nodal officers have also been appointed to deal with this,” said George.

Incidentally, this 38-year-old man had arrived from UAE last week and was kept under observation for suspected MPOX.

After a few days, he developed rashes and also developed fever. On September 16, he was admitted to the Government Manjeri Medical College Hospital where he has been kept in isolation.

The doctors treating the patient said that his fever has reduced.
