Mumbai: An accused in the firing incident that took place outside the residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan on Wednesday alleged that a jail doctor asked for money for the treatment of his broken finger.

Harpal Singh, arrested for his alleged role in the April incident, made the allegation before Judge BD Shelke when he was produced before the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) special court here through video link.

The court directed the chief medical officer (CMO) of Taloja jail, where Singh is lodged, to submit a report, and also asked the jail authorities to provide necessary treatment to the accused.

On the morning of 14 April, two motorcycle-riding men fired five rounds outside Galaxy Apartment, Salman Khan's Bandra residence.

Police, which claimed that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was behind the attack, have so far arrested six people in the case.

Singh told the court on Wednesday that the ring finger of his right hand was fractured for the last eight months.

He alleged that the CMO demanded Rs 10,000 to refer him to a “higher centre” (hospital).

The court has asked for the report by October 7.

Another accused in the case, Mohammad Chaudhary, told the court that he had an infection in his right leg. The court directed the CMO to provide him medical treatment.
