Kolkata: A massive fire broke out in a warehouse storing plastic material in the crowded Barabazar area of ​​the city on Monday morning. Police gave this information.

The fire spread to two nearby residential buildings and 15 fire tenders were deployed to extinguish it, he said.

An official said no one was injured in the fire that broke out around 5.15 am.

"The fire first broke out in a warehouse storing plastic materials and then spread to adjacent residential buildings. Since the warehouse was filled with inflammable materials, it spread rapidly," a senior official of the Fire and Emergency Services Department said.

Both the warehouse and the residential building are on Govindo Mohan Lane next to Nakhoda Mosque in the central part of the city. At present the fire has been brought under control.

He said that local people also helped the fire brigade personnel in extinguishing the fire, the cause of which is not yet known.

Fire and Emergency Services Minister Sujit Bose reached the spot and supervised the operation.

A forensic team will investigate the fire, the minister said.
