Rescue operations continued for the third day after the giant billboard collapsed on Monday afternoon, after a gas cutter used to cut the heavy metal rods caught fire, witnesses said.

However, since Mumbai Fire Brigade teams were already deployed there, the fire was brought under control within barely 10 minutes.

There were no reports of any fresh damage or injuries in the latest incident and rescue operations resumed immediately afterward.

On May 13, when a storm hit Mumbai suddenly with dust storm and strong winds, a huge private hoarding put up in Pant Nagar, Ghatkopa fell on several houses and a petrol pump below.

So far 14 people have been killed, 88 others injured, more than 60 people have been rescued and some are still feared trapped under the debris.

Given the petrol pump and its underground storage tanks at the spot, rescue teams are carrying out mostly manual operations while avoiding the use of incendiary devices etc. to avoid any further tragedy.
