Kolkata: A fire broke out in a textile unit in New Town area in the north-eastern part of Kolkata on Saturday morning. The officers provided this information.

The flames were seen around 8 a.m. on the fourth floor of the five-storey building, which also has other commercial units, he said.

Officials said there were no reports of injuries or deaths.

Four fire tenders were pressed into service to control the fire.

"We are trying to extinguish the flames from nearby buildings. There is no danger of the fire spreading to nearby houses," a fire department official said.

Local TMC MLA Tapas Chatterjee visited the spot to take stock of the situation
