Meerut, A fire broke out in the operation theater of Lala Lajpat Rai Memoria Medical College on Friday morning. The officers provided this information.
Police said that there was no news of any casualty.
Principal of Medica College, Dr. RC Gupta said that the window air conditioner installed in the gynecology operation theater on the second floor of the government hospital caught fire due to a spark.
Dr. Gupta said that there was no patient or doctor inside the operation theater at the time of the incident, but equipment and other materials worth about Rs 1 crore were burnt to ashes.
Chief fire officer Santosh Kumar Rai said teams from six fire brigades reached the spot and began efforts to douse the fire, which took an hour to douse.
Dr. Gupta said that a committee has been formed to investigate the accident.
