Thane: Police have registered an FIR against a 39-year-old woman for allegedly creating nuisance at a polling booth in Bhiwandi area of ​​Maharashtra's Thane district, an official said on Tuesday.

Voting took place on 13 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra including Bhiwandi and Thane on Monday.

An official of Kongaon police station said that the woman entered the polling booth at Govegaon Zilla Parishad School in Bhiwandi at around 8.15 am.

They allegedly violated the instructions displayed outside the polling station, leading to a disturbance there. He told that the woman, resident of Bhiwandi area, created obstruction in the work of the polling staff by shouting loudly.

Based on a complaint by a polling employee, a case was registered against the woman on Monday under sections 188 (disobedience to order promulgated by a public servant) and 186 (obstructing a public servant in the discharge of public functions) of the Indian Penal Code and once again under the provisions of FIR was registered. The officer said, People's Representation Act-1951.

The FIR did not mention whether the accused was a voter or not.

The officer said that the police have issued a notice to the woman who has not been arrested yet.
