Starting with the 2023/24 season of the FIH Hockey Pro League, a new incentive was added to the event, whereby the title winners in each section will receive direct qualification for the respective FIH Hockey World Cup in 2026. According to the rules, in the event of Belgium or the Netherlands winning the men's or women's title, the highest-placed team behind them will take their place in qualifying for the World Cup.

Netherlands Women have been in great form throughout the FIH Hockey Pro League season and won their second consecutive title and fourth overall in front of their home fans with a 4–0 win against Germany on 22 June.

As hosts, the Netherlands had already secured qualification for the upcoming World Cup, so the second-placed team in the Pro League would receive a direct qualification spot into hockey's showpiece quadrangular event.

Germany today moved up to second place in the Women's FIH Hockey Pro League points table with their win over Great Britain, overtaking Argentina, who completed their 2023/24 campaign earlier this month.

While Germany and Argentina are level on 34 points, Danas are guaranteed to finish above Lyon due to Germany having a game in hand, with the first tiebreaker for teams level on points being the number of outright wins.

Argentina finished their campaign with 10 wins from their 16 matches, while Germany have won 11 of their 15 matches so far this season, securing themselves second place and a place at the FIH Hockey World Cup Belgium and the Netherlands in 2026. A place is guaranteed.
