London [UK], The Indian hockey team ended its FIH Hockey Pro League 2023/24 campaign with a 2-3 defeat against hosts Great Britain on Sunday.

With this loss, the Indian hockey team finished with 24 points from 16 matches. Sukhjit Singh (19') and Harmanpreet Singh (36') scored for India, while Phil Roper (1'), Jack Waller (37') and Alan Forsyth (50') were on target for Great Britain.

In the early exchanges, it was Great Britain who looked more dangerous. Just over a minute into the quarter, the hosts took an early lead through Phil Roper (1') when he found the back of the net from an acute angle.The hosts possessed the ball for most of the first quarter and made their way into the Indian striking circle with accurate passes. However, the Indian team started to move through the gears, pushing Great Britain into their own half, with some attacks from the right side. Despite continuous attacks, the Indian team was unable to equalize as the first quarter ended with Great Britain leading 1–0 over India.

India made a great start to the second quarter. A quick counter-attacking aggressive approach helped India grab the equalizer as Sukhjit Singh (19') found the back of the net. India were in a bit of a dilemma in the next few minutes after the goal as they gave up possession easily.Sanjay's foul in the circle helped Great Britain earn a penalty stroke, but Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh made a brilliant save to stop Zachary Wallace. The score was equal to 1-1 till half time.

The third quarter was entertaining, with both teams displaying fast-paced hockey and both increasing the tempo on offense. India got a penalty stroke, which was successfully converted by captain Harmanpreet Singh (36') to give India a 2-1 lead. However, hosts Great Britain equalized within a minute with a brilliant field goal from Jack Waller (37').At the end of the third quarter the score was equal to 2-2.

After scoring, the confident Indian team performed strongly in the fourth and final quarter of the match and kept Great Britain under pressure with strong attacks. However, the host team kept its defense tight. Alan Forsyth (50') helped give Great Britain a 3–2 lead with 10 minutes remaining. The match ended with a 3–2 victory for hosts Great Britain.
