In the second phase, voting will be held in Purnia, Katihar, Kishanganj Bhagalpur and Banka Lok Sabha constituencies on April 26. Of the 5 candidates, 18 are independent.

Twelve candidates each are contesting in Bhagalpur and Kishanganj while candidates are in the fray in Purnia Lok Sabha constituency.

In Purnia, 11 candidates filed nominations, while the Election Commission canceled the nominations of four candidates during scrutiny of their papers and affidavits.

Along with this, Santosh Kumar Kushwaha from JDU, Bima Bharti from RJD, Kishore Kumar Yadav from All India Forward Bloc, Arun Kumar Das from BSP, independent candidates Satyendra Yadav, Pappu Yadav and Nauman Alam are in the fray in Purnia.,

The contest on Purnia seat seems to be between Santosh Kushwaha Bima Bharti and Pappu Yadav. Pappu Yadav's entry has made the contest interesting and he can cut RJD's votes.

In Bhagalpur, 21 candidates had filed nominations but now only 12 candidates are left in the fray. The other 9 candidates have either withdrawn or their nominations have been canceled by the Election Commission after scrutiny of their papers.

Ajay Kumar Mandal of JDU, Ajit Sharma of Congress, Poonam Singh of BSP, Umesh Kumar Yadav of People's Party of India (Democratic), Dayara Mandal of Lok Seva Dal, Deepak Kumar Indi (Communist) of Socialist Unity Centre, Rashtriya Jan Sambhavna Party. Deepak Kumar Singh, Akhil Bharatiya Parivar Party's Mukesh Kumar as well as independent candidates O Prakash Poddar, Hareram Yadav, Chhotalal Kumar and Ramesh Tuddu are in the fray.

There will be a tough contest between Ajay Kumar Mandal and Ajay Sharma in Bhagalpur.In Kishanganj, 15 candidates had filed nominations while three candidates have withdrawn their names. There are now 12 candidates in the fray in the Muslim-dominated Kishanganj Lok Sabha constituency.

Mujahid Alam is contesting as a JD-U candidate, while Dr Javed Azad is contesting on a Congress ticket. The participation of AIMIM state president and sole MLA Akhtarul Inam has made it triangular.

Apart from them, independent candidates including Alam Babu (BSP), Saiful Alam (Rashtriya Samaj Party) and Chhotalal Mahato, Mohammad Kaushar Parvez Mohammad Gurfan Jamali, Mohammad Haserul, Vishwanath Tuddu, Vishesh Rishidev and Ravi Kumar Rai are contesting from Kishanganj.

19 candidates have filed their nominations in Banka and the Election Commission has canceled the candidature of 9 candidates after examining their nomination forms and affidavits. The main contest will be between JD-U's incumbent M Giridhari Yadav and RJD's Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav, whom I consider a close aide of former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Apart from these, Amrit Tanti of Bharatiya Dalit Party, Uttam Kumar Singh of Aam Janata Party Rashtriya, Kavindra Pandit of Socialist Unity Center O India (Communist), Ganesh Kumar Kushwaha of Samata Party, Jaiprakash Yada of Rashtriya Jan Sambhavna Party are included. Whereas in Banka, three independent candidates Umakan Yadav, Naresh Yadav and Naresh Kumar Priyadarshi are contesting.

In Katihar, 10 candidates had filed their nominations and one of them withdrew his name. Now, 9 candidates are contesting in Katihar Lok Sabha constituency.The main contest will be between JD-U's Dulal Chandra Goswami and Congress candidate Tariq Anwar.

Apart from this, Gopal Kumar Mehta of BSP, Vishnu Singh of Bharatiya Jago Janata Party, Marang Hansda of People's Party of India Democratic, Ra Kumar Mandal of Rashtriya Jan Sambhavna Party, Bindu Kumari of Sam Shakti Party are included. Independent candidates Dnyaneshwar Surya and Khalid Mubarak are also contesting the elections.
