Badaun (UP), A 55-year-old farmer was mauled to death by a bull when he tried to stop her from grazing crops in his field in a village under Dataganj police station area, police said on Sunday.

According to the police, a bull attacked farmer Atarpal in Simri Baura village on Saturday evening when he tried to drive him out of the field.

Atarpal was first taken to the Community Health Centre, from where he was referred to the district hospital. He succumbed to his injuries late in the night.

Dataganj police station in-charge Arihant Kumar Siddharth said that the post-mortem of the farmer's body is being conducted.

Dataganj sub-divisional magistrate Dharmendra Kumar Singh said a team from the revenue department was sent to the village to assess compensation for the family.
