Police immediately reached the spot and detained the protesters and chased those who tried to escape.

The former BJP MLA had posted vulgar comments about the actor, who is his brother-in-law and sister, after BJP's victory in the Shivamogga Lok Sabha seat.

Angered by this, the protesters forcefully entered the leader's residence, raising slogans against Kumar Bangarappa.

In response, a platoon of Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) was deployed to prevent further incidents.

Shivarajkumar's wife, Geeta Shivarajkumar, who is Kumar Bangarappa's sister, contested the Shivamogga Lok Sabha seat as a Congress candidate against BJP candidate BY Raghavendra.

Raghavendra won the Shivamogga Lok Sabha seat by a huge margin of 2.43 lakh votes.

Kumar Bangarappa, close to the family of former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, had campaigned for Raghavendra.

After the defeat of his sister Geeta, Kumar Bangarappa put out a post on Facebook in which he criticized her for 'misusing' the name of his late father, former CM S Bangarappa.

In the post, he also mocked his brother-in-law Dr Shivarajkumar and suggested that he need not fear unemployment and can start applying to perform at religious fairs in various villages in Shivamogga district.

Fans got angry with these comments. Kumar Bangarappa's brother Madhu Bangarappa is the Education Minister in the Congress government.
