Dubai External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reviewed with his UAE counterpart Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan the multi-faceted comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the UAE and discussed new areas with "untapped potential" for improve collaboration, an official statement said on Monday.

Jaishankar, who was in the UAE on Sunday, also exchanged views with Al Nahyan on regional and global issues.

He visited the iconic BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi and participated in the 10th International Yoga Day celebrations before meeting Al Nahyan.

The two foreign ministers "reviewed the multifaceted India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership", the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in New Delhi on Monday.

They expressed "happiness over the substantial progress in various areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade and economic collaboration, financial technology, education, culture and people-to-people connection," he said in a statement.

The ministry said the two ministers "discussed new areas with untapped potential to further enhance collaboration" and also exchanged views on regional and global issues.

Jaishankar addressed X after meeting his UAE counterpart and said, "I am very happy to meet UAE FM @ABZayed today in Abu Dhabi."

"Productive and insightful conversations about our growing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. We appreciate the discussion and your insights on regional and global issues," he said.

Jaishankar visited the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 14.

At the temple, the minister interacted with monks of BAPS, Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Sansthan, the organization that built the temple on the land donated by the UAE.

Jaishankar then inaugurated and participated in the 10th International Yoga Day celebrations organized by the Embassy of India in the United Arab Emirates, which were held at the Louvre museum premises, Abu Dhabi.

The session lasted almost 30 minutes, with participants from many countries at the museum that regularly teaches yoga classes for various backgrounds.

The ministry said in a statement that Jaishankar's visit to the UAE, two weeks after his re-election, "signifies the importance that India attaches to its relations with the country". He added that the visit marks the "continuation of high-level contact between the two countries."

"Last year, we also witnessed important milestones in our bilateral relations, such as the implementation of a local currency trade settlement agreement, the launch of the UAE national credit/debit card based on the RuPay card stack of India, setting up an IIT Delhi campus in Abu Dhabi, fintech collaboration and starting work on IMEEC, among others," he said.

Ahead of his one-day visit to Abu Dhabi, the MEA said the visit would provide an opportunity to review the entire spectrum of the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the UAE as well as regional and global developments.

"During the visit, the Foreign Minister will meet his UAE counterpart on a wide range of partnership issues," the MEA said in a statement.

A vibrant Indian community of approximately 3.5 million people forms the largest expat group in the United Arab Emirates.

Both countries signed a historic Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in February 2022 to boost economic engagement.
