One person was seriously injured in an explosion at an illegal firecracker factory in East Medinipur district of Kolkata, West Bengal. Police gave this information on Monday.
Due to the explosion that took place late on Sunday night, the roof of the house where the factory was operating was blown away.
At least 4-5 other houses were also damaged in Prayag village of Kolaghat area, a police officer said.
"An illegal firecracker manufacturing unit was running inside Anand Maiti's house. The roof of the house was blown off and walls and windows were damaged. One person was injured," he said.
Police personnel have been deployed around the house as investigation into the blast continues, he said.
Incidentally, in May last year, 12 people were killed in an explosion at an illegal firecracker factory running inside a house in Kharikul village in the same district.
