New Delhi: A court here on Friday sought response from Tihar Jail on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's application seeking permission for his wife to join the medical board constituted to determine her health condition and treatment. Is of.

Additional Sessions Judge Mukesh Kumar directed the officials concerned to file their reply in the case by Saturday.

Kejriwal is lodged in Tihar jail after his arrest in a money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi Excise policy scam.

Meanwhile, the judge fixed for June 19 another plea by Kejriwal seeking regular bail in the case. The case was adjourned after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sought time to file its reply in the case.The Delhi Chief Minister has filed a fresh application seeking permission for his wife to join the medical board through video conference.

The judge said, "An application has been filed by the accused for direction to allow his wife to join the medical board. Before passing any order, I consider it appropriate to seek a reply from the jail superintendent concerned. Application Let it be kept for tomorrow." Said.During the proceedings, the ED sought 10 days' time to file its reply to the bail plea and requested the court to adjourn the case till June 25.

However, the judge said he would consider the convenience of the accused and not the investigating agency for the next date of hearing.

"The accused is in judicial custody (JC), not in your (ED's) custody. If he wants some facility, you have no role in it. You have no role... He is in the JC.I will consider his convenience, not yours,” the judge said.

On June 5, the court had rejected Kejriwal's plea seeking interim bail in the case on medical grounds. However, the judge had directed the Tihar jail authorities to take care of Kejriwal's medical needs during his judicial custody. He had also extended Kejriwal's judicial custody till June 19.

"Since the health concerns of the accused must be addressed immediately, the Medical Board of AIIMS, which was directed to be constituted by this Court's order dated April 22, 2024, is directed to be revived and/or re-constituted goes." If considered appropriate by the Director, AIIMS, New Delhi, having regard to the nature of the diseases from which the applicant is said to be suffering from,'' the judge had said.He had said that the medical board, besides following the earlier order of April 22, would also examine the applicant and prescribe such diagnostic tests as it deems appropriate within three days.

"The prison authorities will ensure that the prescribed recommended tests/assessments of the applicant are carried out without any delay. On receipt of the test report, the Medical Board will prescribe further necessary treatment as required and the prison authorities will ensure that the prescribed recommended tests/assessments of the applicant are carried out by the Medical Board," the judge said. The prescribed treatment is immediately provided to the applicant under intimation to this Court.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor surrendered in Tihar jail on June 2 as his interim bail granted by the Supreme Court had expired.

On May 10, the apex court had granted 21-day interim bail to the Chief Minister, allowing him to campaign during the Lok Sabha elections.It had directed him to surrender on June 2, a day after the final phase of seven-phase voting ended.
