New Delhi, Supreme Court Justice Sanjay Kumar on Thursday recused himself from hearing AAP leader and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia's pleas seeking to revive his bail pleas in the cases of special policy scam.

A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna, Sanjay Karol and Sanjay Kumar said another court of which Justice Kumar is not a member will entertain Sisodia's two separate petitions to revive his bail pleas in cases filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). and the Central Research Bureau. (CBI) in the excise policy scam case.

As soon as the matter came up for hearing, Justice Khanna said, "Our brother is having some difficulties. He would not like to hear this matter for personal reasons."

Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, appearing for Sisodia, asked the court to list the matter urgently, saying time is of the essence.

He said the trial has not yet begun in either case.

The court said another bank will take over on July 15.

On June 4, the top court refused to consider Sisodia's bail pleas in cases filed by the CBI and ED in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam.

Earlier, Sisodia had moved the top court challenging the Delhi High Court verdict of May 21 that dismissed his bail applications in the cases investigated by the two central agencies.

The AAP leader had challenged in the high court a trial court order of April 30 rejecting his bail applications in cases involving alleged irregularities in the formulation and execution of the now scrapped policy. of Delhi Excise Duty for 2021-22.

On October 30 last year, the top court denied him bail in the corruption and money laundering cases related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam, saying the allegation of "windfall profits" of 338 crore to wholesale liquor traders was "provisionally supported". for evidence.

Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26, 2023 for his alleged role in the liquor policy case. The ED arrested him in the money laundering case arising from the CBI FIR on March 9, 2023.

He resigned from the Delhi cabinet on February 28, 2023.
