Ahead of the match with England, head coach Murat Yakin has promised that this team will 'cause problems for England.'

“England have a lot of quality. We don't know what they are planning to do but we have already shown that we can mix it up against the big teams – against the defending champions [Italy] and the hosts [Germany]. We will cause problems for England,” Yakin told reporters at the post-game press conference.

Switzerland were in Group A and their impressive performance left them in second place with seven points and on goal difference. The team then dominated Italy with a 2–0 win in their first knockout game.

“I believe England have enough quality to play well in the quarter-finals, but we are in good shape and have shown that we are ready to upset the big teams. Why not give big England problems and play our game and see what happens?'' said the Swiss head coach.

Switzerland will play its fifth major tournament quarterfinal ever. They have exited at this stage in all four of their previous attempts, the most number of quarter-final appearances by any European country at major tournaments without appearing in the semi-finals.

The winner of the match will face the winner of the Netherlands vs Türkiye quarter-finals.

“Everyone is working towards a common goal. We are happy to be here, living this moment. The atmosphere in the camp is very good. We are growing together,” the 49-year-old concluded.
