Chandigarh, Haryana's Industries and Commerce and Labor Minister Moolchand Sharma on Tuesday said mandatory safety standards for boilers and other equipment in industrial units established in the state should be strictly ensured to prevent loss of life and property.

He said that for this, officials of the Industry and Labor Department will monitor the compliance of safety standards in mutual coordination.

Sharma issued these instructions while chairing an important meeting with officials of the Industries and Commerce Department and Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (HSIIDC) here.

It is noteworthy that in early March, 14 people were killed in a boiler explosion at a spare parts manufacturing facility in Rewari, Haryana.

Sharma directed that safety standards be immediately monitored in the industrial areas of Sonipat, Jhajjar, Rewari, Yamunanagar, Gurugram and Faridabad, an official statement said.

Furthermore, the authorities should ensure that workers in industrial units are provided with a conducive working environment.

The Minister directed HSIIDC officials to ensure maintenance of infrastructure works like roads, water, power supply, sewage systems etc. in industrial areas and to expedite new projects so that no inconvenience is caused to the businesses.

He said that industrialists are being encouraged under various incentive policies of the state government to set up new industries.
