Bridgetown (Barbados): Defending champions England will look to revive their T20 World Cup campaign through an improved bowling effort when they face 'old' rivals Australia in a Group B match here on Saturday.

England's first match against Scotland was washed out after Scotland scored 90 runs without loss in 10 overs, giving the teams one point each.

But those 60 balls also showed England the need to strengthen their bowling department initially.

Scottish openers George Munsey and Michael Jones scored freely against all of England's bowlers, and Australia have far more lethal guns in their line-up.

David Warner and Marcus Stoinis showed how much damage they can do as they defeated Oman in the opening match of the tournament.Once again, a lot of focus will be on Jofra Archer, who conceded 12 runs from two overs against Scotland. The fast bowler's comeback to top-level cricket continues.

But bowling is just one part, as the English batsmen, led by captain Jos Buttler, who has performed well in IPL 2024, will have to attack in unison against the Australian attack.

The Australian bowlers were powerful against Oman even without Pat Cummins, who has done well for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL.

Nathan Ellis played ahead of Cummins in that game, but Australia could have brought back the premier pace bowler against a far stronger opponent. While Australia's batting looks settled, out-of-form Glenn Maxwell is missing. After a poor IPL campaign with Royal Challengers Bangalore recently, 'Big Show' was out for a duck on the very first ball against Oman.

The 2021 champions would like to see Maxwell return to his best form as soon as possible and the match against England provides him with an ideal opportunity.

SA faces courageous Dutch

,

South Africa may have defeated Sri Lanka in their first match, but they face the Netherlands in their second Group D match in New York on Saturday.

The scars of their 38-run defeat against the Dutch in last year's 50-over World Cup may still be fresh in the minds of the Proteas.

The team led by Aiden Markram will definitely want an upset this time. The most encouraging sign in their win over Sri Lanka was Anrich Nortje's form. The fast bowler, who was a shadow of his horror form in the IPL, found his rhythm on the spicy New York pitch, taking four wickets against the Islanders. ,

Along with Kagiso Rabada, Nortje forms a strong combination, and South Africa will need him at full strength against the Netherlands, who started with a six-wicket win over Nepal.

He also ticked a few boxes in that match, as frontline batsman Max O'Dowd scored a half-century, while leading fast bowlers Tim Pringle and Logan van Beek took three wickets each.

The Dutch team will be hoping for another great performance from its top players so that they can defeat their arch rival once again.
