Surguja (Chhattisgarh) [India], Electricity tariff in Rajasthan will be reduced once the state starts receiving 20-22 racks of coal from the mine allotted to Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) in Chhattisgarh, Minister said of State Power (independent charge) in Government of Rajasthan, Hiralal Nagar.

Currently, Rajasthan needs 20-22 racks and the state is getting 9-10 racks, Nagar said, adding that efforts are on to increase the supply.

Also, efforts are being made to ensure that two more coal blocks (Paras and Kanta Extension) allocated to the State are handed over, the minister said.

Nagar said this while he was visiting PEKB coal mine in Surguja on Saturday.

"Rajasthan needs 20-22 racks from this coal mine and currently 9-10 racks are being supplied. Efforts are on to enhance supply and ensure delivery of two blocks (Parsa and Kanta Extension) to RVUNL. We will meet CM of Chhattisgarh and request for advancement of work related to handover of two mines,” Nagar said.

The delivery of the mines will improve supply and the company will receive 18 racks, he added.

As RVUNL receives less coal from the mine (referring to PEKB), we have to buy coal from Coal India and it costs us 40 per cent more, besides increasing the cost of electricity production, the minister said.

Also, the quality of coal is not what we need, Nagar said.

The visit is aimed at getting the two mines at the earliest so that increased power production can be ensured in Rajasthan and the public can get relief by purchasing electricity at a higher price, the minister said.

"During the visit, I noticed better management of mine, which is run by MDO Adani Group. The group has been working with a five-star rating for the past few years," Nagar said.

Furthermore, the minister also praised the works done by the Adani Group in terms of afforestation and appealed to other mining developers to follow the same for environmental conservation.

On the occasion, the minister inaugurated a 9-megawatt solar energy park and push machines dedicated to mining.

The mining area needs a power supply of 15 megawatts and the 9 megawatt solar power park will contribute to green energy, Nagar said.

Talking about Dozer pushing machines, the minister said that these machines will bring a great transformation and will also contribute to the environment.

This technique will be used in the country for the first time and will give fruitful results, Nagar said.
