The deceased has been identified as grocery trader Suresh Kumawat (40), who was on his way to his in-laws' house with his wife, who was seriously injured in the incident that took place at Devli Kalan village around 12.30 pm. on Wednesday.
Sarpanch Ratnaram Bhana said that Suresh, a resident of Katiriya Bera, was going to his in-laws' house on a bike with his wife Panchu Devi (38) when the electric wire broke and fell on the couple.
The wire got stuck in Suresh's neck and his head was severed.
A government engineer said, "At the time of the incident, electricity was switched off because branches of the trees around the electric pole were being cut. Suddenly the wire broke from the pole and fell on the bike. Action is being taken on the complaint of the villagers." “Lineman Rajuram Solanki has been suspended.”
The electricity department has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family of the deceased.
