Srinagar: The Election Commission has postponed the election for the newly created Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat scheduled for May 7 to May 25.

Several leaders, including Jammu and Kashmir BJP unit chief Ravinder Raina, Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party chief Altaf Bukhari, People's Conference leader Imran Ansari and others have approached the Election Commission to contest from the seat due to adverse weather conditions. Former Jammu and Kashmir chief ministers Omar Abdullah (National Conference) and Mehbooba Mufti (PDP) had recently urged the Election Commission not to postpone the elections.
