Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam, who returned to his former party after being expelled from the Congress, took a different stance from his party chief Eknath Shinde and said that the Sena has made a good deal with the Indian people. Party (BJP) and got the post of Minister of State (Independent Charge) for his party in the new government.

Speaking to ANI on Monday, Nirupam said, "In 2019 when Shiv Sena was undivided and Uddhav Thackeray was the party chief, 18 MPs were elected. So did BJP give ministerial post to every 18 Shiv Sena MPs? Only one The MP was a minister."

The Shiv Sena leader said it does not make much difference whether the Shiv Sena MP is given the status of Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the Cabinet as the responsibilities are almost the same and the difference is only in "nomenclature".

"What difference does it make whether he is a cabinet minister or a minister of state with independent charge? One who is appointed as a minister of state with independent charge also has the full powers of a minister. He is the head of the ministry. It's just a nomenclature difference," Nirupam said.

He said, "When you had 18 MPs you had a minister, now you have only one MP. I think Eknath Shinde bargained well and got a good position for his party.,

Both BJP's alliance partners, Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), have been disappointed after getting the post of Minister of State in the third term of the Narendra Modi government. Shiv Sena MP Pratap Jadhav took oath as minister of state on Sunday. NCP rejected the proposal and Praful Patel did not take oath.

Responding to Congress leader Pawan Kheda's comment that this is an NDA 3.0 government instead of Modi 3.0, Nirupam pointed out that in the last two terms of the Narendra Modi government, alliance partners had got ministerial berths.

“If the Congress party wants to set its own narrative through such arguments then I wish them all the best. It will not make any difference.PM Modi has started his third term. This is 3.0. Congress may oppose it but neither Nitish (Kumar) nor (Chandrababu) Naidu has any problem with it,” Nirupam said.

“This is a coalition government with the Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies. But it was a coalition government earlier also. The alliance partners had got ministerial posts in the BJP or Narendra Modi government. Therefore such allegations have no meaning," he said.

Narendra Modi was sworn in as the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive time along with a council of 71 ministers in an impressive ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday.
