Ranchi, Eid-ul-Azha, popularly known as Bakrid, was celebrated with religious enthusiasm amid tight security in Jharkhand on Monday.

People of Muslim community reached their nearest mosques in large numbers and offered namaz.

On this occasion, Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan and Chief Minister Champai Soren extended their best wishes.

"Eid-ul-Azha, the festival of sacrifice and sacrifice, gives us the message of mutual harmony, unity and brotherhood. On this auspicious occasion, I pray for the progress and prosperity of all the people," the governor wrote on Twitter.

Hundreds of people gathered at Ranchi Eidgah in the morning to offer namaz.

Maulana Asghar Misbahi said at Ranchi Eidgah, "This festival gives an important message of brotherhood and harmony."

He said that prayers were offered for happiness, prosperity etc. Communal harmony in the country.

Extensive security arrangements have been ensured across the state for the celebration of the festival.
