The largest Eid congregation was held at Hazratbal Mosque on the outskirts of Srinagar city where hundreds of Muslims gathered for Eid prayers.

The elders dressed the children in new clothes and took them with them to the place of prayer. Muslims greeted each other after offering Eid prayers at various mosques and Eidgahs in the Valley and other cities and towns of Jammu division.

Three former chief ministers, Dr Farooq Abdullah, his son, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti attended mass prayers at Hazratbal Mosque.

While talking to journalists, the three leaders wished different people for the festival.

Authorities had made adequate security arrangements for the large number of devotees who had come to offer thanksgiving prayers on the holy occasion.

Large gatherings were also reported from Baramulla, Anantnag, Shopian, Pulwama, Kulgam, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Budgam and Kupwara districts of the valley.

Despite the scorching morning sun, a large number of devotees in Jammu city turned out to offer prayers at the Eidgah grounds in the Residency Road area of ​​the city.

Mass Eid prayers have been reported from Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Kishtwar and other districts of Jammu region.

At many places, Hindu members of the society were waiting outside prayer places to wish Eid with their Muslim friends.

Officials said there were no reports of any untoward incident from anywhere in the Union Territory and Eid prayers passed off peacefully across Jammu and Kashmir.
