They also discussed the exchange of hostages and prisoners and efforts to ensure the flow of adequate humanitarian aid and relief into Gaza, Xinhua news agency reported.

The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to continue joint efforts with all parties to end the war, protect the region from the effects of conflict expansion, and restore security and stability in the region.

Egypt and Qatar, along with the US, are leading regional mediation talks to end the conflict and accelerate humanitarian aid to Egypt's war-torn region.
