EC members are scheduled to meet on Friday. It will be the first meeting after a Delhi High Court order restored the council to maintain the status quo.

"The EFI sent Anush's application after the court ruled in her favour. The EFI did not expect the court order to be challenged later," an EC member said.

"The notice of the Annual General Meeting was also published on the website. Not everyone is in favor of the Annual General Meeting because the audited accounts have not been submitted to the EC and the agenda of the Annual General Meeting has also not been approved by the EC," the member said. .

An EFI official said holding an Annual General Meeting is mandatory under the Sports Code and it is crucial to do so as the budget for next year must be approved.

"Look, the new season is already here. We have to discuss and approve the calendar. According to Annex 2, paragraph 3.18 of the Sports Code, an annual general meeting must be held once a year.

"In addition, the IOC's legal and audit requirements justify holding an Annual General Assembly once a year. In 2020, the Annual General Assembly could not be held due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We are already a year late. This Annual General Meeting on July 21 would be the EFI Annual General Meeting of 2023," the official said.

When asked why EC members were not consulted, the official said: "This EC is a divided chamber. It cannot agree on most things. We are simply following the Sports Code that governs everyone. the NSF," he said.
