Mumbai: In view of heavy rains in parts of Maharashtra, the state government declared holiday in all schools in Mumbai, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts on Monday.
Maharashtra School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar made this announcement in the state Legislative Council here.
"It rained in Mumbai last night. We have issued a notification in the morning declaring holiday today in all schools in Mumbai city, Mumbai suburban, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts," he said.
The minister said that the movement of local trains on Central Railway routes has also been affected.
Local trains are running late by 30-40 minutes. Kesarkar said in the House, the situation will improve by afternoon.
