He was addressing the inaugural session of the review meeting of the Department of School Education and Literacy with the States and Union Territories.

Hailing the "tremendous progress" of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 over the last four years, Pradhan also shared his views on the next five-year roadmap for the overall development of school education across India.

He said that "to transform India into a knowledge superpower and enable equitable and inclusive access to quality education, the implementation of NEP is important."

Furthermore, the Minister said that the NEP emphasizes the importance of education in the mother tongue.

“It is our collective responsibility to ensure an education system that is both rooted and future-oriented,” the Education Minister said.

Since the world is "rapidly changing and driven by technology", it is important to build schools "with a holistic approach that ensures technology readiness and critical thinking among students".

He called on both the states and the Center to "work as a team to strengthen the education ecosystem" and "to strengthen capacities, build a collaborative education system and leverage education as the key pillar of a developed India." Urged to work together for

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the five-year action plan; 100-day action plan; On status of progress of infrastructure and civil works, ICT and smart classes under Samagra Shiksha for all States/UTs.

The officials will also discuss the upgradation of Centers of Excellence; and the need for tobacco control guidelines in schools.
