New Delhi [India], The Education Ministry on Wednesday canceled the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on June 18 in two shifts in different cities of the country. To ensure the highest level of transparency and sanctity of the examination process, the Ministry of Education, Government of India has decided to cancel the UGC-NET June 2024 examination.

Fresh examinations will be conducted, information for which will be shared separately.

On June 19, 2024, the University Grants Commission (UGC) received some inputs from the National Cyber ​​Crime Threat Analysis Unit of the Indian Cyber ​​Crime Coordination Center (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs on the exam. These inputs prima facie indicate that the integrity of the above examination has been compromised.Also, the matter is being handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for thorough investigation.

UGC-NET exam was held on Tuesday. UGC Chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar said 81 per cent of the more than 11.21 lakh candidates registered for the exam in 317 cities across the country participated.

UGC-NET is an examination to determine the eligibility of Indian citizens for 'Assistant Professor' as well as 'Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor' in Indian universities and colleges. UGC-NET is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode."Today, NTA has successfully conducted the UGC-NET June 2024...The examination has been conducted at 1205 examination centers in 317 cities across the country for 11,21,225 candidates. Out of the total registered candidates, ~81% candidates All the best to all the candidates who appeared for the exam,” tweeted the UGC Chairman.

Regarding the NEET-UG exam, the Education Ministry said in a press release, "The issue related to grace marks has already been fully addressed. The government will take action on reports of alleged irregularities in the conduct of the exam in Patna."A detailed report in this regard has been sought from the Economic Offenses Unit of Bihar Police.

The government further said that it is committed to ensuring the integrity of the examinations and protecting the interests of students. It is reiterated that strict action will be taken against any person/organization found involved in this matter.
