New Delhi: Delhi Education Minister Atishi on Thursday said she has directed Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar to immediately withdraw the transfer orders of 5,000 teachers issued without her instructions.

A circular titled 'Online Request for Transfer of Teaching Staff of Directorate of Education' directs all teachers who have served in the same school for more than 10 years to compulsorily apply for transfer .

Failure to do so will result in them being transferred to any other school by the DoE, said the circular issued by the DoE on June 11.

The minister had ordered on July 1 that no teacher should be transferred merely because he has spent more than 10 years in a particular school.

Addressing a press conference, Atishi said that he has come to know that corruption has taken place in this case.

He said, "Contrary to my orders, a transfer order was issued on July 2 transferring around 5,000 teachers. I have directed the Chief Secretary to withdraw this order. I also asked him to investigate Whether there has been any corruption or misconduct." Said.
