Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar said, 'We are already investigating the matter. There was no need for action against him by the ED.

Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar was referring to the investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Karnataka government.

“These developments are politically motivated and we will see what happens,” he stressed.

Commenting on the BJP's protest over Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allotment, he said there was no scam as the BJP was alleging.

“Whatever happened happened during the tenure of the BJP government. After winning the Lok Sabha elections, they want to spoil Karnataka again. Nothing of that kind is happening here, and everything is perfect. This is all politically motivated and we will see what happens,” he reiterated.

When he was asked about CM Siddaramaiah's statement that he was being targeted because he comes from a backward class and has reached the CM post twice, the senior leader confirmed that it was true.

“He is being targeted because he is from a backward class. Karnataka is the only big state where Congress is in power and they want to demoralize us. The state will not allow this,'' he said.

In a blow to the Karnataka government, the ED on Friday arrested Nagendra in a case of irregularities in the Karnataka Maharishi Valmiki Scheduled Tribe Development Corporation Limited (KMVSTDC).

Sources have revealed that ED is preparing to take KMVSTDC Chairman and Congress MLA Basanagouda Daddal into custody and there is a possibility of his arrest soon.

Meanwhile, BJP is holding massive protests demanding resignation of CM Siddaramaiah for his alleged involvement in MUDA irregularities.
