In raids conducted at 19 locations in Mumbai and Pune on Wednesday, the ED targeted betting website 'FairPlay', which was involved in online betting on Lok Sabha election results and illegal telecast of IPL matches.
The massive operation led to the recovery of various assets worth Rs 8 crore, which included cash, bank deposits, demat accounts and luxury watches along with incriminating documents and digital devices.
The ED said these assets have been seized, frozen or confiscated for the ongoing investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
The latest operation is related to a complaint filed by a media company against Fairplay Sports LLC and other entities with the Mumbai Police for revenue losses of over Rs 100 crore and international influence.
