Haridwar (Uttarakhand): The Enforcement Directorate has arrested Sikandar Singh, son of Haryana Congress MLA Dharam Singh Chhokar, on charges of defrauding home buyers of over Rs 300 crore.
According to sources, Sikandar was arrested by the ED team from Haridwar late on Tuesday evening.
Sikandar Singh and Vikas Mahira are co-owners and promoters of Sai Aina Firm Pvt Ltd, a real estate group that had taken Rs 360 crore from 1,497 home buyers.
These houses were to be built in Sector 68 of Gurugram. However, the builder failed to deliver the houses to the customers and did not even return their money.
Cases of fraud and forgery were registered against Sai Aina Firm Private Limited. ED had raided the MLA's residence and company premises in July last year. The agency was searching for the MLA's son Sikandar and his associate Vikas Mahira in this case.
Aggrieved home buyers have been protesting for the last one year. ya al alam rt
