Thane, Mira Bhayandar A 29-year-old woman, who was held hostage by her agent in Dubai, UAE, has been rescued by the Vasai Virar Police with the help of Indian Embassy staff. An official gave this information on Friday.

MBVV police's Bharosa cell assistant said the victim had gone to Dubai on April 8 this year through a Delhi-based agent, identified as Tarun (40), as she was looking for a hotel there for Rs 70,000 per month. Was promised a job as a receptionist on salary. Inspector Tejashree Shinde told.

"After reaching Dubai, the agent took her passport and visa and put her up in a hotel with 40-50 other women. Her health deteriorated but the agent told her she needed to work for at least six months. He also stopped his salary. His relatives turned a deaf ear to his request to send him back.

After being alerted about the matter on June 3, the Bharosa cell contacted the Indian ambassador there through proper channels and officials there spoke to the owner of the hotel where she was working, she said.

Shinde said that with the help of the hotel owner, she reached India on Thursday and met her family.
