Taking to his X handle, Malviya posted, “This one indicator is enough to know how badly Congress ran India.

“As of 2018, Pakistan had a higher percentage of electricity than India!

"Yes... till 2018. No wonder people like Mani Shankar Aiyar advocated that we treat Pakistan with respect."

He also shared World Bank data showing electricity access in India and Pakistan over the past few years.

The graph showed that at the beginning of the decade in 2000, Pakistan's population had a higher percentage of access to electricity at 72.8 percent, while in India it was 60.3 percent.

Statistics show that the electricity situation in India has improved significantly since 2011 as India's electricity supply far exceeds that of Pakistan.

Pointing out the disparity, Malviya noted a significant change in 2018, in which India overtook Pakistan, with electricity access reaching 95.7 percent, while Pakistan was at 93.4 percent, and wrote, "Pakistan is now a As is the case, India has moved ahead."

He criticized the former Congress government and blamed poor governance for low electricity access in India.

The Congress leader and former cabinet minister's blunder came at a time when the grand old party was still grappling with the impact of its former foreign wing chief Sam Pitroda's comments amid the Lok Sabha elections in India.

Mani Shankar Aiyar on Friday said India should show Pakistan the respect it deserves as a sovereign country and advised that strong police force should not be used against it as it has the nuclear bomb.
