Jaishankar posted on Twitter, "Deeply shocked by the news of fire incident in Kuwait City. More than 40 people have reportedly died and more than 50 have been admitted to hospital. Our Ambassador Camp We have gone in. We are waiting for further information.”

He said, "Deepest condolences to the families of those who tragically lost their lives. I wish speedy and full recovery to those who were injured. Our Embassy will provide all assistance to all concerned in this regard."

The Indian Embassy in Kuwait has also issued an emergency helpline number regarding the tragedy, confirming that Indian workers are involved.

"All concerned are requested to connect with this helpline for updates. The Embassy is committed to providing all possible assistance," it said.

Meanwhile, Kuwait's Health Ministry also issued a statement on Wednesday afternoon.

It said, "The Health Ministry has so far dealt with 43 cases through accident departments in several hospitals, in the incident of fire in a building in Mangaf, of which 4 cases resulted dead."
