BENGALURU: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday said he had no faith in exit polls and predicted that the Congress would cross double digits in the state in the Lok Sabha elections, but refrained from giving any figures.

Party leaders, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, who is also the state Congress president, were claiming that the party would win 15-20 out of 28 seats in the state.

He said, “I have said that I have no faith in the exit polls. Even today I am saying the same thing. Just now someone called me and said that they (channels) are showing that we will get only two or three or four seats in Karnataka. We will get more than double digits, wait and see,” Shivakumar told reporters here.

He said, "I have no confidence in the exit polls and their assessments because they do not go deep inside. They might have done this on the basis of some sample size, I do not trust it. The India faction is ready to handle it." " mental."

Early exit polls predict a comfortable majority for the BJP-led NDA, with the ruling alliance expected to open its account in Tamil Nadu and Kerala and sweep Karnataka.

The then ruling Congress-JD(S) alliance had lost badly in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by winning just one seat each, while the BJP had swept Karnataka by winning 25 out of 28 seats and ensuring a single-party victory. Supported the independent candidate in Mandya.

The JD(S) is in alliance with the BJP this time, giving the regional party three seats - Hassan, Mandya and Kolar.

Counting of votes will take place on June 4.
