Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], As India Bloc performed better than expected and BJP fell short of half the mark of 272 seats in the Lok Sabha, DMK leader Kanimozhi on Wednesday said the voting pattern in the 2024 elections is as follows Against the BJP government at the Centre.
"The voting pattern across the country is against the BJP government, especially in Tamil Nadu where the DMK alliance has won all the seats," Kanimozhi said.
In this election, Kanimozhi won in Thoothukudi by a huge margin of 3,93,908 votes.
By securing a total of 5,40,731 votes, Kanimozhi broke his victory margin in the 2019 elections, when he secured 5,63,143 votes.
The DMK-led opposition India Bloc in the state won all 39 seats in Tamil Nadu in this election.
Meanwhile, Congress leader S Jothimani, who won from Karur Lok Sabha seat for the second consecutive time, said that the mandate of the voters of Tamil Nadu is against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and in favor of Rahul Gandhi becoming the Prime Minister of the country.
“This is a mandate against Modi in Tamil Nadu and most Indian states.As far as Tamil Nadu is concerned, the DMK-led Indian alliance has won a landslide victory. It is really for three things - it is a vote against BJP and Modi, it is for good governance in Tamil Nadu, to make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister, these are the three things that Tamil Nadu has voted for," he said. Jothimani told ANI.
"This is the time that we have to stand with the country, no matter which party. The country no longer wants Narendra Modi and the BJP. The verdict is very clear, it is against them.So, it is the responsibility of India. The alliance and other opposition parties, other political parties will take a very strong step to save the country, so it is expected that India Alliance will form the government.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK chief MK Stalin left for Delhi on Wednesday ahead of the India Bloc meeting to be held today. Stalin's DMK party has won 22 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu.
On Tuesday, Stalin described the performance of India Block as historic.
He said, "The success that Alliance India has achieved in breaking BJP's money-power, abuse of power and media lobbying is huge and historic."
Both the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA and the opposition Bharat faction are set to hold meetings on Wednesday to chalk out strategies for future courses of political action.Posting the results of votes cast in Maharashtra's Beed constituency on the Election Commission's website on Wednesday morning, the Election Commission declared all the results for all 543 Lok Sabha constituencies, with the BJP winning 240 seats and the Congress 99 seats.
The Union Cabinet is likely to meet in Delhi today. NDA leaders will hold a meeting today at Prime Minister Modi's residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. The meeting is scheduled to take place at around 3:30 pm.
Prominent leaders like Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and former Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu are expected to attend the NDA meeting.
The India Block meeting will be held in the national capital at around 6 pm.
The counting of 2024 Lok Sabha elections took place on Tuesday. According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 240 seats, significantly less than 303 seats in 2019. Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong growth by winning 99 seats. Facing tough competition and defying all predictions, India Block crossed the 230 mark.
